title = "An analysis of double layer shaped charges",
abstract = "Shaped charges have long been in civil and military use. Double layer shaped charges (DLSC) are a special type of cylindrical shaped charges in which the outer layer of the charge consists of high detonation velocity explosive while inner layer consists of lower detonation velocity explosive. DLSC's have recently attracted the attention of some researchers. It has been previously claimed that the performance of a typical DLSC is superior to that of a similar ordinary shaped charge (OSC). However fresh experiments carried out for comparison of the ballistic performance of DLSC with the OSC reveal the opposite. The numerical simulation results presented in this paper also support the experimental findings that the use of concentric layers of the charges as main charge is not as efficient method to improve the performance of shaped charges, as has been supposed.",
