A Reconstructed Shape Model of Asteroid (367789) 2011 AG5

摘要

Asteroid (367789) 2011 AG5 is one of the most elongated near-Earth objects identified, with a length-to-width ratio of approximately 3.625, classifying it as a "Potentially Hazardous Asteroid."Using the latest 2023 Goldstone radar delay-Doppler observations, we developed a rough shape model of 2011 AG5. This model reveals an elongated, bar-like structure that can be approximated as two touching ellipsoids, one of which exhibits a large, wide indentation. A comparison between the reconstructed shape model and the Goldstone radar images shows a close match in contour features and a strong correlation in the asteroid's rotational orientation as observed in the radar time-sequenced images.
