A model for debris clouds produced by impact of hypervelocity projectiles on multiplate structures

摘要

Hypervelocity impact of spherical and cylindrical projectiles on multipate shields at velocities between 4 and 6 kms was investigated experimentally. A model was developed to describe the motion of the debris clouds generated. Good agreement was obtained between the experimental and simulation results. The model is capable of predicting damage induced by the impact and can be applied to the optimization and design of multiplate shields.
