A Low-Profile High-Efficiency Dual Circularly-Polarized Reflectarray Based on Phase-Modulated Metasurface

摘要

This paper presents a low-profile high-efficiency dual circularly-polarized (DCP) reflectarray (RA) based on phase-modulated metasurface. The proposed DCP RA achieves independent beamforming for CP waves with opposite handedness. The DCP phase compensation is achieved by dual-phase hybrid metasurface unit-cells that integrate both Berry phase and dynamic phase. As a proof of concept, a low-profile RA is designed and simulated, with asymmetrical DCP beams of (φ=0○, 0=-10°) and (φ=0○, 0=30°) for left-handed and right-handed circularly-polarized (LCP and RCP) waves input, respectively. This RA exhibits excellent characteristics such as high efficiency, low profile and high polarization purity. The proposed DCPRA is a promising candidate for various wireless and satellite communication systems.
