摘要
To analyze the blockage effect on the hydrodynamic performance of a horizontal axis tidal current turbine, a 300 mm diameter turbine was tested using numerical simulations and model tests and then verified. The turbine energy conversion efficiency and drag coefficients of different drainage areas and inflow velocities were compared between the Bahaj blockage correction and numerical simulation methods. The blockage effect on the flow velocity near the turbine disk and wake recovery at the downstream area of the turbine was analyzed. The results show that the blockage effect clearly influenced the hydrodynamic performance of a horizontal axis tidal current turbine and that this influence on energy conversion efficiency gradually increased with the increase in tip speed ratio. The blockage effect had minimal influence on the axial velocity and flow field near the turbine disk but did influence the axial velocity recovery in the wake region at the downstream area of the turbine. The research results provide relevant data and references for numerical simulation research and model tests of the hydrodynamic performance of a horizontal axis tidal current turbine.
