摘要
Based on the plugging failure mechanism, considering the energy conservation law and the shear plugging model, a plug velocity model for rigid blunt projectiles (flat, hemispherical and spherical) penetrating intermediate thick metal plates was presented. A perforation test with 3 mm thick GH4169 plates penetrated by 8 mm diameter tungsten balls was conducted and the initial and residual velocities of projectiles as well as the plug velocities were obtained by high-speed photography. The plug velocity model was verified by the above experimental data and the experimental data of projectiles with flat and hemispherical noses in the literature. The results show good agreement between the experimental data and the calculation results by the plug velocity model. The plug velocity model presented can be used to calculate the damage capability of the plug to the target behind plates.
