摘要

Octavinylsilsesquioxane(OVP) was used in ethylene propylene diene monomer(EPDM) heat insulation materials as an ablative filler to prepare EPDM/OVP composites to improve the ablation and mechanical properties of EPDM. The mechanical and ablative properties of the materials were observed. The results show that the tensile elastic modulus and the char residual mass of EPDM/OVP composites are higher than those of EPDM. The linear ablation rate of EPDM/OVP composites are gradually reduced with the increase of the content of OVP when denser and more homogeneous char layers are formed after ablation tests. The comprehensive performance of the composites is the best and the linear ablation rate is decreased by 27.3% to 0.058 2 mm/s when the OVP is added to 15 phr,which indicates that OVP has great application value in improving ablation resistance of EPDM.
