Lei Zhang was born in Xingtai City, Hebei Province, China, in 1987. He received the B.Eng. (Hons.) degree in Automotive Engineering from the South China University of Technology, China, in 2010, the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Beijing Institute of Technology, China, 2016, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia, in 2016. Since 2016, he has been with the Beijing Institute of Technology, where he is currently a Professor with the School of Mechanical Engineering. He has authored over 70 publications and held 26 patents and has been an invited speaker at several international conferences. He has co-edited the books entitled Electric Vehicle Engineering Manuals: Operation and Management (China Machine Press) and Charging Technology and Infrastructure for EVs (China Machine Press) and co-authored the book entitled Supercapacitor System Management Techniques and Applications (Beijing Institute of Technology Press). His research interests lie in the area of control theory and engineering applied to electrified vehicles with emphases on battery management techniques, vehicle dynamics control and autonomous driving technologies. He is a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and of China Society of Automotive Engineers (CSAE). He serves on the Technical Committee on Vehicle Control and Intelligence and the Technical Committee on Parallel Intelligence in Chinese Association of Automation (CAA). He has served as Guest Editors for a number of journals, including International Journal of Vehicle Design, Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, and China Journal of Highway and Transport. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief for the Sustainable Transportation Section in SUSTAINABILITY and an Associate Editor for IEEE OPEN JOURNAL OF VEHICULAR TECHNOLOGY, FRONTIERS IN ENERGY RESEARCH, PROCEEDINGS OF THE INSTITUTION OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS PART C-JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING SCIENCE, SAE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ELECTRIFIED VEHICLES, and SAE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF CONNECTED AND AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES. He is on the Editorial Boards of ELECTRONICS, PLOS ONE, and VEHICLES, and on the Youth Editorial Board of CHINA JOURNAL OF HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORT, AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING, and GREEN ENERGY AND INTELLIGENT TRANSPORTAION. Lei Zhang is an Academic Editor for AUTOMOTIVE INNOVATION.
