Abstract

The effects of different blending ratio of gasoline and diesel fuel on the combustion characteristic were investigated based on an electronically controlled high pressure common rail optical engine. A high-speed camera and a cylinder pressure data acquisition system were used. The experimental results show that with the increase in the proportion of gasoline, the ignition delay and combustion duration of the gasoline and diesel fuel blends are increased, the peak of the in-cylinder pressure and the heat release rate are reduced, the timing of the peak pressure are retarded, the brightness of flames at ignition is decreased, the area of ignition points is increased, the brightness of flame is reduced and a large area of blue flame is formed.
