Abstract

A new approach for estimating the miss distance parameters of target was presented based on the extraction of target motion trajectory in space using range-only tracking measurements. In this method, vector miss distance measurement system based on stepped frequency pulse trains was utilized to obtain exact transient information of distance. Through constructing motion model of target, the finite-difference extended Kalman filter was adopted to obtain more accurate motion trajectory of target with range-only measurements. Simulation results indicate the robustness and feasibility of the proposed method in parameter estimation of miss distance.
