Abstract

One of the important issues in shock-wave research is that of the exact determination of the lateral stresses in shock-loaded solids. The only direct method to measure the lateral stress is with piezoresistance gauges embedded in the specimen in such a way that its plane is paralleling to the shock propagation direction. In this paper the measurement techniques for the lateral stresses had been deeply analyzed and summarized.
