Abstract

A new kind multi-surface composite trough solar concentrator is introduced in this paper. The theoretical and experimental researches are carried out and the principles of its work are introduced. Its important design parameters are calculated and optimized and the rough range of values are given. This new trough concentrator can take advantage of combination multi-surface to reflect sunlight on the focus. There is no shadow left on the reflective surface and the operating performance of the high-temperature solar receiver is improved. Experiment results show that the low-temperature operating efficiency of the device is 45% or more. At high temperature (≥80°C), the efficiency is significantly higher than all-glass vacuum tube solar collector or at-plate collector, so it is more advantageous to run at high temperatures.
