Abstract

The necessity of shift during turning is proved on two points, which are driver's steering intention and vehicle dynamics. Then the control strategy of auto-shift during corning is introduced. The bench test indicates that the auto-shift of the caterpillar with the split transmission during steering does benefit to the cornering on the narrow or hard road, meeting the requirements of drivers and road conditions.
