The extraction of geometrical parameters from graphics files

Abstract

Discusses ways of implementation in extracting geometrical parameters from graphics files in engineering databases management systems of CAD applications systems. Complex internal graphics files are transfered into external universal files that are readable. The paper analyses the structure of the universal files and gives rules of parameter arrangement in the files. The necessary geometric parameters are extracted from the files into ordinary data files using general programming languages, so that users can easily access these ordinary data files and the graphics data management is improved.
