Abstract

A zero-order resonant antenna based on composite left and right hand (CRLH) transmission line and reactive impedance surface (RIS) is presented. The present antenna, which has a single-fed configuration, is loaded with the CRLH and RIS for miniaturization, dual-band and increase bandwidth purpose. It is a three-layer structures with a dielectric constant of 4.02 for the upper and lower substrates. The RIS, which is composed of an 8 by 8 periodic arrays of metallic square patch printed on a grounded dielectric substrate, is introduced below the top surface. This antenna exhibits an overall size is 0.037λ 0× 0.025 λ0 at 8.48 GHz. The simulated 10dB return loss bandwidths are 18.9% at 8.48GHz and 2.4% at 12.36 GHz respectively. The gain values are 6.59 dBi at 8.48 GHz and 5.26 dBi at 12.36 GHz.
