The Design of A Single-layer Broadband Metamaterial Absorber

Abstract

In this paper, a simple new single-layer broadband metamaterial absorber is designed and analyzed. The surface layer is double notched wood comb type metal structure, the middle layer is F4B-2 dielectric substrate and the bottom layer is metal reflector. The thickness is 0.144λ. Through optimization, the absorption rate is over 90% in the frequency range of 7.68 GHz to 17.776 GHz, covering X and Ku bands. It produces relatively strong resonances at 8.3 GHz, 13.31 GHz and 16.35 GHz, achieving perfect absorption. The relative bandwidth is up to 79.32%. The metamaterial absorber has the advantages of simple structure, high absorption efficiency, wide bandwidth and small thickness.
