Abstract

In this paper, a wide-band patch antenna that works in S band is designed, which using E-shaped patch antenna. By using the microstrip antenna design technology, the requirement of a certain type of wireless equipment is gotten. In order to broaden the bandwidth of the antenna, E-shaped patch antenna is used to design, and the determination for grooving of type E patch size method has been discussed. At the same time SMA connector is adopted in the design. A comprehensive parametric study has been carried out to understand the effects of various dimensional parameters and to optimize the performance of the final design. The simulations are performed using HFSS software. The proposed antenna structure with its dimesions and the results obtained are discussed in the remaining part of this study. The electromagnetic simulation software HFSS gives the final result: the antenna works between 2.05Ghz to 2.35Ghz, the Voltage Standing Wave Radio(VSWR)in-band is no more than 1.5, Orthogonal polarization is better than 15 dB.
