Abstract

Multiplex Binary Offset Carrier (MBOC) is the final modulation scheme of both modernized GPS L1C and Galileo E1 signal. By additionally modulating the square wave sub-carrier, it improves the performance of the satellite navigation receiver on the multipath mitigation and interference rejection. However, the side peaks in the autocorrelation function of MBOC signal will bring the problem of false peak locking which will greatly distort the satellite measurements. Bump Jump is a false peak tracking detection method for the standard autocorrelation function based loop which detects false peaks by checking the correlated power at the code phase of the correlation peak. Since the loop with autocorrelation function based early minus late power discriminator outperforms other previously designed unambiguous methods in tracking sensitivity, measuring accuracy and system stability, it is of great interest to study the side peak tracking detection strategy for Bump Jump which has not been discussed in the previous researches. In this paper, we firstly calculate the detection probability and false alarm probability of side peak tracking for Bump Jump. Afterwards, the Mean Side Peak Lock Time (MSPLT) is proposed based on these probabilities. The enhanced false peak detection strategy for Bump Jump is designed based on the MSPLT. A Monte Carlo simulation is carried out to validate the MSPLT. The performance of the proposed strategy is evaluated by a test. The results indicate that the detection strategy gained from MSPLT can better keep the loop stably tracking the main peak and rapidly detecting the false peak tracking.
