Abstract

Due to the feature of multi-mode with various speech coding rates, channel coding scheme for adaptive multi-rate (AMR) standard is more complicated than traditional single mode speech codec. To simplify the complexity of channel coding scheme of AMR, an unequal protection (UEP) base on rate-compatible punctured convolutional (RCPC) is proposed in this paper. At the same time, the concept of intra-class UEP is introduced with RCPC. Simulation results show that the performance of this UEP channel coding scheme is better than traditional convolutional code scheme with exactly the same decoding complexity and more suitable for AMR.
