Abstract

The authors have developed the techniques for reducing the variation within one plate by rolling, having dynamic intelligent control of hydraulic screwdown system, synchronism control of hydraulic screwdown, eccentricity control method by rotary encoder, automatic on-line measurement of the curve of modulus of mill, etc. The techniques were used for the plate mill at Maanshan Iron and Steel Co with good results that the variation was reduced to 0.08-0.15mm as compared to 0.25-0.60mm obtained by conventional techniques.
