Abstract

The poly(L-lactic acid)(PLLA) was synthesized through melt polycondensation from L-lactic acid. The chain-extending reaction of PLLA with triphenyl phosphite (TPPi) was studied. After the chain-extending the PLLA which has a viscosity average molecular weight (M̄η) over 18.6 × 104 can be attained in the optimal reaction. The 13C-NMR and [ α]25 prove that the PLLA's molecular structure is kept after the reaction. DSC and TGA results show that the final products are semicrystallizability and have good thermal stability.
