Abstract

Li4Ti5O12 spinel cathode material was synthesized by molten salt method using LiOH-LiNO3 as composite salt. The materials were characterized by means of XRD, SEM, C-V and electrochemical tests. It is showed that a pure spinel Li4Ti5O12 was obtained with n (Li):n (Ti) = 4. The initial discharge capacity was 164.4 mAh/g at 15 mA/g current density, and it displayed a wide discharge/charge plateau at 1.55 V. The capacity was 156.7 mAh/g after 15 cycles, and the retention rate was 95.3% with excellent cycle performance.
