Abstract

In order to improve the crosswind stability of formula-SAE racing car, based on multi-body dynamics theory, models of a certain FSAE racing car and race track were established with the aid of software ADAMS. By comparing the model's structure and parameters with the data collected by vehicle data logger in 2010 China FSAE competition, the correctness of the virtual prototyping model was verified. Then, the typical crosswind was simulated and the crosswind stability of racing car was analyzed through virtual test. The sensitivity of suspension main structure parameters oriented to crosswind stability was obtained and optimized by ADAMS/Insight module. The optimization results show that the crosswind stability of the racing car could be improved to some extent.
