Abstract

The vehicle steering feels of the electric power steering (EPS) system, including the maneuver ability of steering, the return ability of steering, the sensitivity of steering, the difficulty to correct the steering direction, the precision of steering, the road feel, the roll feel, and the tiredness by steering, etc., were evaluated subjectively under four test conditions. A hiarachic fuzzy evaluation model to evaluate the steering feels of the EPS system was established by the hiarachic fuzzy method. The comprehensive decision was incorporated in the model to consider the many-sided factors affecting the steering feels of the EPS system, and a systematic all-round subjective evaluation was obtained.
