Abstract

This paper introduces a method for improving the interfacial bonding strength of coated single-base propellant grains. The procedure is as follows: (1) the single-base propellant grains are presurfaced by absorbing the plasticizer, (2) coated, and in contrast to the coated single-base propellant by the direct coated process, two coated single-base propellants presurfaced by NG or DBP are prepared, then aged and measured the interfacial bonding strength with the fallhammer test. The effect of the conditions such as plasticizer, aging time and temperature on the interfacial bonding strength of coated single-base propellant is discussed. Experiments show that the interfacial bonding strength of coated single-base propellant presurfaced by plasticizer NG can be improved obviously.
