Abstract

Polyaryletherketone with cardo (PEK-C) is an engineering thermoplastic and membrane material with high glass transition temperature. PEK-C ultrafiltration membranes were prepared by phase inversion method using dimethylacetamide (DMAC) as the solvent and polyethylene glycol as additive. Membrane morphology forming and evolution can be observed by the modified experimental system and method, and image handled by correlated software. The effect of additive and polymer concentration on gelation kinetics of casting solution and asymmetric membrane structure is studied. The result showed that gelation kinetics photo and membrane morphology were coincident. It is found that the relation between the square of gelation front motion and time is nolinear, the gelation kinetics process does not follow Fick is diffusion behavior.
