Study on processing speed of super-capacitors electrode machined by low speed wire electrical discharge machining in gas medium

Abstract

Super-capacitors have many advantages such as high power density, high velocity of battery charging, long service life and wide range of serviceability temperature and so on. Now the traditional processing method is punch machining. The major problems of punch machining are machining burr and collapse edge in processing, high leakage current and poor electric discharge performance in super-capacitors. This paper presents the way of super-capacitors electrode machined by wire electrical discharge machine in gas medium. A series of experiments in lower speed wire electrical discharge machine tool were done, the different electrical parameters and gas pressure, the way of gas supply, the strain of electric polar filament and different gas were researched. The experimental results also summarize the processing characteristics and the influence of the above parameters on processing speed.
