Abstract
A heat recovery with tandem desalination system with Fresnel concentrator based on humidification and dehumidification (HDH) process was investigated experimentally in this paper. In order to test these concentrators in the brackish water desalination field, we have designed and built in our laboratory a small solar desalination unit equipped with a curved Fresnel lens concentrator. The sketch and principle of a four-stage multi-effect solar HDH desalination process are given out. The system obtains fresh water by three-stage isothermal heating mode. A mathematical model based on the energy balances in each unit of the system is developed which is used to optimize the test. The maximum yield of the unit can reach 1.5 kg/h, the gained output ratio (GOR) of the system can reach about 0.73.
