Abstract

On the basis of performance experiments and measurements of multi-cylinder pressure of a turbocharged eight-cylinder diesel engine, the computational simulation model of one-dimension performance of the diesel engine was calibrated and verified by using the experimental results. The intake air quantity in each cylinder under different operating conditions was computed, and the intake air nonuniformity in several cylinders was analyzed. The computed results indicate that the corresponding relationship of intake air quantity in each cylinder doesn't change with the change of engine load at the same speed. When the load increases, the mean intake air quantity and the intake air nonuniformity in each cylinder increase. At different engine speed, the corresponding relationship of intake air quantity in each cylinder will change, and the intake air nonuniformity in each cylinder will differ.
