Abstract

Internet of vehicles plays an important role in traffic safety. To apply such emerging technology, this paper proposes an inter-vehicle information collaboration system to enhance the reliability of inter-vehicle communication and cooperation. The platform is coded in LabVIEW with GPS equipment, vehicle-mounted sensors, IPC, Wi-Fi wireless transmission equipment and two test vehicles. A user-friendly operation interface we built has the function to collect, display and transfer vehicle's information. To verify the effectiveness of the system, we tested information transmission from one vehicle to another in a specific traffic condition. Experimental results indicate that vehicle's running status information (speed, latitude and longitude) and driving manipulation information (acceleration and braking) can be collected, displayed and transferred smoothly. The system can be applied to prompt risk information of possible collisions with other vehicles and to help the driver to take preventive measures in advance.
