Abstract

To analyze the factors that affect polarization properties of the reflected radiation of rough surfaces and the reflected radiation distribution above the object surface, a general expression of the degree of polarization of object's reflected radiation has been deduced based on the model of polarized bi-directional reflectivity distribution function. Having the derived general expression, we calculated the degree of polarization of different painted surfaces with the consideration of surface diffuse and specular reflection components. Also the polarization distribution under different surface's roughness and complex index of refraction was investigated. It is revealed that the calculated results coincide with the experimental data. This work provides a theoretical guidance for actual measurements.
