Abstract

The traditional Hopkinson system was improved and the chuck was designed. The dynamic fracture toughness towards structural radar absorbing laminates was measured by this system. The measuring parameters such as the curve of loading-time, the curve of stress intensity factor and the crack initiation were introduced. By measuring the dynamic fracture toughness of comparison specimens, it was found that the determination of time point of crack-opening towards structural radar absorbing laminates is obviously different from that of pure polyester and normal laminates. The crack-opening time and the dynamic fracture toughness towards structural radar absorbing laminates are higher than that of normal laminates, which result from absorbing particles.
