Abstract
We report here the striated structure of constricted microdischarges in coplanar barrier discharge in neon by means of intensified charge-coupled device camera imaging. The microdischarge is characterized as a transient glow discharge with stratified filaments. Striations appear in both the volume of discharge channel and above the anode surface with the same spacing. The striation spacing ΔS decreases with the applied voltage while the radial dimension r of filament increases with the voltage. The current density keeps on the order of ∼ 3 mA/cm2.
