Abstract

A innovative method to study the structure of the porous superabsorbent polymers was founded. The scanning electron microscope(SEM) pictures of the polymers were transformed to the gray image. By using the forbidden lines theorem and Dekease rule of the stereology, the parameters of areas, circumferences, and porosity of porous superabsorbent polymers could be calculated by overlay of the correlative calculating lattice. Ulteriorly, the parameters of the fractal dimension and form factor the of the superbabsorbent polymer could be gained with the aid of the method of fractal geometry. By using of the above process, influence of the adding amount of the NaHCO3 on the structure of the porous superabsorbent polymers were discussed.
