Abstract

In current precision machining field, there is a critical problem to achieve high efficiency, high-quality and high-precision machining for hard brittle material. Based on this background, the ultrasonic assisted grinding machining is widely introduced as a promising processing technology. In this paper, the machining characteristics, especially grinding forces, ground surface integrality and wheel wear, of both one-dimensional and two-dimensional ultrasonic assisted grinding techniques are analyzed. As a new progress, the principle and fundamental characteristics of vertical elliptical ultrasonic assisted grinding method are introduced.
