Abstract
This paper considers the strong observability of multi-agent systems where a subset of agents are modified by unknown inputs. Leveraging a minimum separator decomposition, a necessary and sufficient condition for the state and input observability of multi-agent systems is established from a graph-theoretic perspective. The condition is formed by some special subgraphs and can be checked without complex computation. Besides, when the condition is not satisfied, it is shown that the state and input observability can be recovered by adding additional sensors to a subset of agents. A feasible sensor addition procedure is provided. Numerical examples corroborate the practical merits of the theoretical results.
