Abstract

Waterborne polyurethane (WPU) refers to polyurethane dissolved or dispersed into water. Compared with solvent polyurethane, WPU has advantages such as high rigidity, high adhesive, corrosion resistance, solvent resistance, low volatile organic compound (VOC) as well as low capital, environmental friendly, easy to disposal and good adhere, which suit to the three preconditions of industry produce and the four E principles and made it wild applied in the field of adhesive and painting. However, since the hydrophilic group is brought into, WPU is weak in water resistance, solvent resistance and element resistance, hence, researchers are modifying WPU without pausing. This paper presented an review of three means of waterborne polyurethane's modification, including synthesizing nano/WPU composition, bio/WPU composition and fluor/WPU composition. The development trends and the applied foreground were also pointed out at the end of the paper.
