Abstract

A new neutral layered borate B3O4(OH)(C4N2H10)0.5 (denoted BO-CJ 38) has been solvothermally synthesized. The piperazine molecules act as organic ligand and strcuture-directing agent. The left- and right-handed helical B-O-B chains are linked together via piperazine molecules to form infinite organic-inorganic hybrid layers. The aromatic piperazine molecules may play an important role in the formation of helical inorganic chains.
