Abstract

A one-dimensional iron(ii) coordination polymer, [Fe 3(hpdc) 2(H 2O) 6]·2H 2O (H 3hpdc = 2-hydroxypyrimidine-4,6-dicarboxylic acid) has been synthesized and characterized. The compound exhibits field-induced two-step magnetic phase transitions and a coexistence of spin-canting and metamagnetism, and undergoes a structural transformation from single-crystalline to amorphous state upon dehydration, accompanied by significantly enhanced spontaneous magnetization and critical temperature.
