Software package of network planning for radio communication systems based on field-strength prediction models

Abstract

A software package of network planning for radio communication systems based on field-strength prediction models is presented and realized. Some field-strength prediction models are first discussed, and three models (OM model, Egli model and CCIR model) are chosen to satisfy the purpose of radio communication according to the features and ranges of the models. Based on the selected field-strength models, main function modules of the software package, including the inquiry of geographic information module, the prediction of field-strength distribution module and the frequency interference analysis module, are designed and accomplished. Simulation of field-strength prediction for real geographical environment with the proposed software package proved that the design of the software package is reasonable and the computation is accurate.
