Abstract
The slope recognition principle was introduced. The filtering algorithm of longitudinal acceleration based on power spectrum analysis was developed. The difference of the acceleration obtained from an acceleration sensor and the vehicle longitudinal speed when automobile traveled on a slope was analyzed and a method of identifying different slopes based on the acceleration interval judgment was investigated. The comparison tests of acceleration on the level road and the slope recognition field vehicular experiments were accomplished. Also, the shift gear based on the slope recognition was designed. The field vehicular experiment results show that this method has advantages of simpleness, practicality and high efficiency. The control based on driving environment recognition will be a future development trend of automotive control technology.
