Abstract

Finite element model of gear pair of main gear box in transmission of a car was built. Based on ABAQUS/Explicit dynamic analysis method, transient meshing process of the gear pair under maximum engine output torque was simulated. Amplitudes and stress contour curve of equivalent stresses in the critical spots of the gear teeth surfaces and roots, as well as their changing patterns were obtained. On the basis of the FEA model, research work was carried out to investigate the changing rules of some important factors such as engine output torque, assembling errors, including the center distance and angle between the input and output shaft within the same plane, on the loading conditions of the gear pair. These results and conclusions can provide essential information for structural scheme modification aiming at higher strength and reliability.
