Abstract

Sound transmission loss of a kind of Micro-aperture Membrane PTFE is simulated in this paper for protection of microphones used in harsh environment. The simulation result is coincident with testing using impedance tube method. Sound transmission loss is low and coherent in the frequency domain with less than 10dB. It is concluded that PTFE Micro-aperture Membrane has good character of sound transmission and can be used to protect microphones in engineering application of harsh environment.
