Abstract
Based on Lambert law, a formula about photo-power received by ultraviolet communication system of intensity modulate/direct detection was deduced. According to the formula, inverse ration of square distance attenuation and atmospheric transmission attenuation are the main factors leading to the power attenuation with the distance increase. The only effective method to improve the transmission distance is to optimize the parameters of the transceivers. Aiming at the main factor of the atmospheric transmission, simulation using atmospheric transmission software-MODTRAN was carried out. The result shows that atmospheric model, weather condition and degree of ozone will decrease the transmission power obviously, which will shorten the communication distance. On the basis of the theory and simulation, atmospheric transmission per kilometer under the three main factors was calculated. It gives effective way to simulate and budget and evaluate the transmission distance of ultraviolet communication systems in solar-blind.
