Abstract

Shortcomings of traditional sidelobe suppression technique are analysed, and a novel sidelobe suppression method of phase-coded signal based on interpulse code agility is proposed for low pulse repetition frequency moving target detection radar. In this method, agile code sequences are transmitted in different pulse repetition time of a coherent integration frame. Sidelobe is suppressed after integration because the main lobes of autocorrelation function among different codes are relevant while the sidelobes are random. Computer simulation and experimental results showed that the code agility method has excellent performance to reduce the range sidelobe, and that it can work well when the target echo is eclipsed.
