Abstract

The narrow serrated groove at the joint of a stealth aircraft produces strong scattering fields when illuminated by radar. It compromises the overall stealth effect of the aircraft. This impact from the groove needs to be carefully considered when designing aircraft for radar cross section (RCS) reduction. Based on the scattering model of an infinite narrow rectangular groove, this paper proposes a scattering center model of a narrow serrated groove. This model can be used for fast simulation of its RCS, and the results are compared with the results of the full-wave numerical method.
