Abstract

The rolling process, microstructure and mechanical properties of commercial pure titanium named after TA2 wide-thin sheets were investigated in this paper. The reasonable roll reduction, bend-roller force and roll shift were precisely controlled by advanced hydraulic AGC system. The titanium sheets were further annealed for 2h at 650°C in a width of 1600 mm and a length of 6000 mm vacuum furnace. C. P. Ti wide-thin sheets of 1500 mm in width were produced by 1780 mm 6-h reversible cold mill. Optical microstructure of the cold-rolled sheet shows that most of the grains are elongated. The grains of as-annealed sheet are equiaxed. The tensile-property anisotropy of the as-rolled sheets and as-annealed sheets is not obvious. External dimension, the variations in thickness of the same sheet in the transverse direction, the flat surface of the sheets and mechanical properties, etc. meet the technical requirements of the related specification.
