Abstract

In this paper, the relationship between and the directivity the structural parameters of plate end-fire antennas was investigated. According to the analysis and experiments, the phase velocity of the slow surface wave propagating along this antenna is demonstrated to be a link between the structure parameters and antenna directivity. The point is the extended Hansen-Woodyard end-fire condition must be satisfied also in this kind of antenna to achieve optimum directivity just like in normal end-fire arrays.
