Abstract

The penetration of two kinds of shaped charges with wide angle parabolic geometry liners for concrete was studied by using X-ray flash radiography, penetration effect test and numerical simulation. The shaped profiles and tip-tail velocities of the explosively formed rod penetrators of shaped charge with thick liner were obtained through the experiments, its penetration parameters were also measured for the concrete targets with semi-infinite thickness and multi-layer limited thickness. The formation and penetration processes of the shaped charges with two types of liner structures were obtained by AUTODYN-2D numerical simulation. The results show that the explosively formed rod penetrators of shaped charge with thick parabolic liner can generate the penetration holes in the concrete target, which can meet the requirements of tandem warhead penetration of first order.
