Abstract

A novel EPS system was designed. It can vary the steering ratio by superimposing the steering angle by AFS motor and alleviate the steering torque requirement for the driver with the EPS motor. Based on two freedom vehicle model, a variable steering ratio was designed. The simulation show the novel EPS system with the designed variable steering ratio has better steering portability at low speed and better handling stability at high speed. AFS's active intervention function can increase the diver's torque at low speed and decrease the driver's torque at high speed.
